The Lansing Amateur Radio Public Service Corps were presented with the City of Lansing "Hometown Heros" award at the City of Lansing board meeting on June 30, 2008. You can watch a video of the presentation below.

Volunteer Appreciation Picnic

The City of Lansing Emergency Management (Trent Atkins) will be sponsoring a Volunteer Appreciation Picnic on Monday, August 11th at 6:30pm, at Hawk Island Park in Lansing. Please be prepared to bring a dish to pass and your own drinks. Feel free to bring your family!

Please e-mail Tom Shaver to RSVP with the number of mouths you intend to bring, so that Trent has an idea of how much food to prepare. Please RSVP no later than August 6th!

2008 Common Ground Fest

Common Ground Fest 2008 is upon us. The festival in downtown Lansing runs from July 7-13, 2008. The Lansing ARPSC group is still in need of a few operators for Amateur Television ("ATV") operations. Please click here to find out how you can help!

EF-1 Tornado Touches down in Lansing-Area

The Lansing Area Skywarn group was activated on June 8, 2008 for a line of storms that impacted the Lansing area. The activation lasted almost 7 hours from approximately 1 pm until 8pm Eastern Time. The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids has determined that an EF-1 Tornado touched down. You can read more here.

2008 Skywarn Training a "Great Success"

The 2008 Skywarn Training on March 29th was a "Great Success" according to Ingham County Skywarn Coordinator Ben Holcomb (WX8BEN). One Hundred and fifty eight individuals from the Lansing area and as far away as Alma, Grand Rapids and Ann Arbor took part in the training session held at LCC's West Campus on Saturday. Read More
